Africa’s Only Ballon d’or winner George Weah elected president of Liberia

 

 

Former Chelsea, Manchester City, AC Milan striker and Ballon D’or winner, George Weah has emerged as the president-elect of Liberia after the election that held Yesterday, October 12.

The 1995 Ballon D’or winner is set to succeed outgoing president Elen Johnson Sirleaf.
He was previous beaten to the Presidential post in 2005 following his defeat to former president Elen Johnson Sirleaf.

However, reports claim that Weah has now defeated his closest rival, Joseph Boakai who is also the incumbent vice president, Charles Brumskine and former Coca-Cola executive Alexander Cummings in the presidential election.

According to reports, unofficial results suggest Weah slightly defeated his rival this time around.

Weah is currently being congratulated by various football fans across social media.
